Site Migration Begins!

The migration of LitMatch to the new AuthorAdvance website has begun! In order to perform the migration, LitMatch will be offline for a period of about one week. Once the data is converted and moved over, the new site will be brought online.

This is a busy and exciting time for me, but I realize that it can be a frustrating time as well for longtime users who have come to depend on LitMatch for research and tracking. I appreciate everyone's patience as we work through this process. I also think you'll be pleased with the results.

See you on the other side!

Good luck Chris - I know that data migration can be a nail-biting time, since my husband is a database guru. I have no idea how big your job is. How about blogging a few statistics as to how many of us there are, the average size of our data and other things like that? Not now of course, but when you have a breather and things look like they are flowing in the right direction!

Thanks everyone!

Statistics-wise, I'm importing something along the lines of 70,000-80,000 individual data points, once you total up the users, titles, submissions, and so on. It's a daunting task, but so far, it's going well.

I've always resisted the idea of posting how many users we have in the system, because the number can be misleading. In the end, it's not the number of people who sign up for the site, but the number who stay and participate in a meaningful way. That number is a lot harder to judge accurately.

When the new site launches, I think we'll have a pretty robust community right out of the gate. It will be interested to see how many people jump in with both feet and how many keep to themselves. I'm really excited to see how the site develops!
